Running a half marathon is an amazing goal. Whether it’s your first time stepping up to the distance or you’re returning to improve your performance, how you prepare will shape your entire training & race-day experience. Too often, we can underestimate the demands of 21.1km — potentially leading to burnout, injury, or a race that feels far tougher than it needs to be.
That's why we're delighted to be launching this course
Train Smart, Not Just Hard
A half marathon isn’t about speed work or chasing exhaustion. It’s about consistency, intelligent pacing, and gradually building resilience.
This 10-week Mullingar Half Marathon Prep Course has been designed with exactly that in mind — making it accessible, effective, and beginner-friendly.
Participants will complete three runs per week:
Easy Run – building aerobic capacity and confidence
Tempo Run – developing sustainable race pace
Long Run – gradually increasing distance and endurance
The Value of Experienced Coaching
Training plans found online can’t adapt to you. Working with experienced coaches like Ciara and Joe means you’re guided by people who understand running mechanics, recovery, and how real-life schedules affect training.
Throughout the programme, Ciara and Joe will provide:
Personalised guidance and pacing recommendations
Clear weekly programming and structure
Ongoing support to help you adjust, recover, and progress safely
This level of coaching helps reduce injury risk, keeps motivation high, and ensures each run has a purpose.
An important feature of this course is the weekly collective running session every Thursday at 7:30pm from Wolfhound Fitness. These sessions offer face-to-face coaching, live feedback, and the motivation that comes from training alongside others working towards the same goal.
The remaining two weekly runs are fully programmed, with clear guidelines and personalised recommendations, allowing you to fit training around your lifestyle while still staying on track.
Set Yourself Up for Race-Day Success
Preparing properly doesn’t just help you finish — it helps you enjoy the process and arrive on the start line feeling confident, capable, and ready.
If Mullingar Half Marathon is on your calendar this St. Patrick’s Day, this 10-week course gives you the structure, coaching, and support needed to take on the distance the right way.
